Keynote @ VU Amsterdam Appreciation of University Teachers

On June 20th 2017 I provided a keynote on sustainable careers and development of university teachers during the symposium "Appreciation of Teachers", which was organized as part of the PhD defense of Thea van Lankveld.

The core message of my talk was that appreciation and development of university teachers is always an interplay between context and individual. That is: the context should facilitatie indiviual initiative and proactive behavior. In the end, the organization (or, specifically: the HRM department) should then create a context in which employees feel free and supported to take ownership of their work and take initiatives to improve their work and, ultimately, their organization.
